Jimmy Hamilton is the lead singer, keyboard player for the 1980's group known as Prime Time. The band recorded for Lonnie Simmons, The Total Experience Label. The band’s biggest hit was the mid-tempo "I owe it to myself," which went to number 21 on Billboard’s R&B chart in the fall of 1984. This song was written by Jimmy Hamilton and Maurice Hayes. Jimmy’s label mates the Gap Band covered "I owe it to myself" on Gap Band VII. Other singles were the Disco like "Love Talk" and "Give it to the beat. Both became post-release favorites of dance/funk fans." Other highlights were "Can’t get you off my mind" and the gentle "Let’s Talk it over" which has an intimate rich and full feel to it. Jimmy also appear on releases by his Total Experience label mates; he wrote and produced the hit "Guilty"LP for Yarborough & Peoples. This album is listed as the best album ever recorded by the duo. Jimmy wrote and produced various tunes such as "I’m Ready," "I Can’t Live Without Your Love, " "You Told Me That" and "I’m All The Way Yours"on the Gap Band. He also wrote and produced songs for the act Klique, Pennye Ford, Prime Time and Ganiyu Gee Bello (Capitol Artist). Prime Time’s albums were "Flying High" and "Confess it baby."
